Hi, welcome to my new blog!
Working in a lovely sewing shop is my dream job, I love teaching others how to sew and I totally love the buzz of retail. Tracking down that specialist trim for a customer, matching a pattern to the perfect fabric or helping to find the perfect gift for a loved one makes me feel great!
But what happens when your hobby becomes your day job? I love my job so it’s all too easy to dedicate all my time to the business but this just isn’t healthy- everyone needs “me” time!
So writing this blog is my way of making sure that I take a bit of time to do my own personal creative projects. Working weekends means that Monday and Tuesday are my weekends. So I’ve decided from now on Monday is my Sunday- my funday!
One of the things I have found about having limited time off is the need to make the most of it. Of course there’s all the regular chores and life admin to get through but that’s what Tuesdays are for!
I plan to structure my Mondays as so… after a reasonable and much needed lie in I’ll do a bit of sewing in the morning, blog at lunch then sew some more or start another creative project in the afternoon. Whilst wearing my amazing Cypriate pompom slippers and a onesie of course…
I started today as I mean to sew on by making a fab pair of Sew Over It “ultimate trousers” in stretch black jacquard fabric ready for my friend’s hen do next weekend. This is the 3rd pair of ultimate trousers I’ve made and I think I’ve finally nailed the fit. I’m really happy with how they look and will try to get a pic of me wearing them next weekend to share with you.
This afternoon I’m going to make a start on a project that I’ve been itching to sew for a long time now – a Colette Hawthorne peplum blouse in this amazing swan print cotton.
Happy sewing everyone!
